The musical theatre is set in Warsaw. Pieder Caplazi from Sumvitg runs a patisserie there. But the shop is not satisfied with sweet pastries. In the evening, after closing time, Polish revolutionaries gather and debate the future. Caplazi is eager to participate. He makes fake passports, hides delinquents in the sugar cellar and distributes inflammatory pamphlets against the tsarist regime. A few months later, Caplazi sits in the Siberian mines and sings deeply melancholic, Rhaeto-Romanic homesick songs – until the tsar pardons him.
