Program

What do Charlie Chaplin, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy have in common? That's right, they're all some of the greatest movie actors to ever grace Hollywood. Reason enough for the Kammerphilharmonie Graubünden to reconcile these three screen heroes. Under the title "Silent Films – Live in Concert", three short films will be shown, for which the Chamber Philharmonic under the direction of Laurent Zufferey will play the film music live.

Laurel and Hardy (also known as Dick and Doof) kick things off with their silent film "Liberty" (to German: "The Thing with the Pants"), which, according to film critics, is said to contain some of their funniest moments. We then continue with the grandmaster "himself" – Charlie Chaplin and his film "The Rink". As in many of his films, Chaplin also shows his most famous character, the "Tramp", in "The Rink", who has a number of mishaps due to a series of coincidences. At the end of the evening, Laurel and Hardy come back with the film "Big Business".

Also produced as a silent film, this work also leaves plenty of room for music due to its construction and thus offers the audience a cinema evening in a class of its own, together with the other works.
