Spiertin 11: Nadlige Freunde

Here to the right of the path we have found the top trees - at over 2400 meters above sea level. That's very high for trees!
The higher up, the smaller the trees are. You could observe that on your way up here. The small group of dwarf larches (see picture) presses against the warming slope and the trees protect each other. At lower altitudes, larches can grow up to 50 m high. Why aren't the larches getting bigger here? You can find the answer in the audio. The audio file can be found at the back of the pictures.
