Via Sett: The Hospice
Here, excavations reached the foundations of the former hospice of St. Peter. Today, only a few and barely recognizable remains can be seen. The hospice was used extensively by monks of the Capuchin Order in Bivio during the heyday of the Septimer. From the bishop in Chur, they had been instructed to provide protection and assistance to each arrival and to receive him in the hospice until he could continue to travel - free of charge if necessary.
With the loss of meaning of the Septimer as a transit pass in the 15th century, the maintenance was neglected and the guests stayed out. As a ruin, it only served as a shelter for dubious figures who drove their mischief on the pass.
At audio icon Olivia Spinatsch tells you the story of Domenica and the seven brothers of the Septimer.
