Nature outreach at Lai Neir, Alp Flix

Lai Neir Nature Reserve, Alp Flix: actively work for nature conservation and experience a beautiful, unspoilt landscape.

Meeting point: public transport stop Sur, plazza dalla posta. Transfer to Lai Neir in carpooling.
Working: raking and transporting hay in a highly sensitive raised bog and fenland area

Why? This commitment is essential for the preservation of the unique flora and fauna of the high and low moors. Without regular maintenance, the open peatland habitats would become overgrown, which would endanger the habitat of many specialised species. The species that occur here are adapted to nutrient-poor conditions. The cut hay must not remain in the raised bog, as it brings in nutrients, which is why it must be transported away.

The mission is led by me and at least one other person from Pro Natura Graubünden. Tools are provided by us. No previous knowledge is required, but a good physical condition is necessary, because the work is physically demanding.
