Andrey Kaydanovskiy conjures up a tumbling empire. Inspired by Messalina, the result is a fragmentary dance theatre about power, desire and identity in decay. Between antiquity and the present, roles, systems and truths tip – until the only question that remains is whether freedom is salvation or abyss.
