Pottery like our ancestors

By firing in an open fire, raw clay transforms into ceramic. Through the firing process, the vessels receive their various colors and shades. This type of vessel was used in prehistoric times as everyday utility items. They were also used for cooking directly on the embers. If the vessels broke, the shards could easily be returned to the earth due to their composition of clay, small stones, and water.

Prehistoric means that no modern tools, such as potter's wheels, were used in the production. Instead, tools made of wood, bone, stone, antlers, shells, etc. are used.

Course Content
You will learn where to find clay in the landscape. How to process and shape the raw material. And how the vessel is subsequently fired in an open fire. As there is no clay at the location of the course, I will bring clay that I have collected myself.

Included Services
Course costs (360.- CHF) and materials as well as lunch on Saturday and Sunday at Beiz & Bett by Cotti Horse.

The course takes place over 2 days from 10.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m., overnight accommodations are organized by the participants themselves.
