Description

The cross-country ski trail starts at the snow sports school Savognin, runs through the plains of La Nars and follows the river Julia. From the plains at the bottom of Piz Arlos, one has a marvellous view of the east and west side of Savognin.

One can definitely imagine how the horse carriages travelled towards the Julier pass in the early days of the tourism in the mid 19th century. The journey was hard and slow, especially in winter. The winter routes over the pass were painstakingly laid out and maintained by the so-called «Ruttner» with their horses and mules.

Cross-country skiers in the 21st century have a far easier time, since the round course has no climb. It is suitable for both, beginners as well as training in the evening with the course being lit up until 10 pm. The temperatures here are always very low, given the location in the valley basin and the position of the sun in winter. This means that the trail can always be created and used very early in the winter season.
