Striking mountain peaks, a blooming alpine flora – splashes of colour in the rock debris, and two lonely mountain valleys captivate us on stage three.
Details
Description
Stage three leads through two lonely side valleys, the Val Curtegns and the Val Gronda. In between, the striking peaks of the 3000-meter peaks, Piz Arblatsch and Piz Forbesch, rise up. The path from Radons up to the Fuorcla Starlera is steady. In the rocky debris of the upper Val Curtegns, the alpine flaxwort blooms conspicuously. We turn south and hike over the Fuorcla Curtegns, which gives us a magnificent view of the Crester Wissberge, with its bright, marble-like calcite veins. At P. 2514 we turn east into the Val Gronda. The mountain flanks are getting closer, the mountain stream accompanies us. In Val Gronda, young cattle and suckler cows spend part of the alpine summer. We always keep our distance from them. The valley opens up immediately and in front of us are the mountain meadows of Plang Faller. In the hamlet of the same name, the gently renovated, former shepherd's hut of the farmers from Mese, south of Chiavenna (I), awaits us. Overnight stay Alp Faller: Tigias Plang Faller
