Alp Flix - Moor landscape of national importance (Bivio - Savognin, section Via Sett)

Alp Flix is very beautiful and quietly located. It offers a magnificent view of Piz Platta. A paradise to let your soul dangle. You will be delighted! The history of Alp Flix is part of the history of the Walser. They used and claimed the settlement area of Alp Flix. This is shown by the chapel dating from the 15th century, dedicated to Saints Placidus and Rochus. At the end of the 17th century, the Walser completely abandoned this permanent settlement to settle in Sur. Today, Alp Flix is again inhabited all year round.

Alp Flix in the municipality of Sur is considered one of the most beautiful alpine terraces and is located at 2,000 meters above sea level. The area is a classic settlement area of the Walser, who probably came from the high valley of Avers. The same family names can be found in both regions in official documents. Around the middle of the 17th century, the Walser colony shrank drastically. The bad climate of that time and the preceding years of plague were probably the reasons for this. Towards the end of the century, the permanent settlement on Flix was abandoned, and the Walser settled in the Romansh-speaking Sur. Today, Flix is a seasonal alpine pasture and recreational area for tourists. Many buildings formerly used for agriculture have been converted into holiday apartments. In hindsight, it must be said that the adaptation to the landscape was not necessarily successful with all houses. A special gem is the Son Roc chapel, which was renovated in the early eighties. Every year in July, a procession takes place that leads from Sur to this chapel.

Enjoy a break at the Lais da Flix. There are two barbecue areas with wood and a toilet. While the sausage sizzles on the grill, you can dam the water in the brook next door or cool your feet in the lake.

From the end of June to early October, the Bus Alpin runs from Sur to Alp Flix and back. Please observe the timetable.
